We’ll just skip past the obvious reason why you’d like to understand the ins and outs of the fragrant world of Diffusing Pure Essential Oils. With thousands of essential oil diffusers on the market and plethora of essential oils for sale, we’ve decided to give you a quick guide to understanding how to effectively navigate your way to aromatic bliss.
Before we deep dive into how to enjoy the stunning aromas of essential oils and the bevy of health benefits that ensue due to the stimulation of smell. Let’s take a quick look at what is classified as an essential oil and how that came to be.
What are Essential Oils?
Essential oils are well, essentially, compounds extracted from plants. Oils capture the specific plant’s unique scent and flavour, known as “essence”. This unique blend of aromatic compounds is what gives each essential oil its very own characteristic essence.
Essential oils are created through a distillation process which can be either via steam/water or mechanical methods, such as cold pressing. Once the aromatic chemicals have been extracted, they are carefully combined with a carrier oil to create the products we see on shelves that are ready for use. The method used to make essential oils are important, the reason for this is; any essential oil created using chemical processes are not deemed “true” essential oils.
Types of Essential Oil Diffusers
To gain the full list of mental, physical and spiritual benefits of aromatherapy you will have to diffuse your essential oil. Let’s take a look at the different ways you can achieve this using popular methods available today.
Candle Lamp Diffuser
This form of essential oil diffusion has been around for as long as aromatherapy has been used in modern times. The method is simple, yet because of the use of an open flame it requires a stable surface and monitoring. It is the use of water and essential oil, this mixture is then placed in a glass bowl and positioned over a candle. The heat from the candle’s flame heats the water-oil mixture and disperses the fragrance into the air using steam.
Reed Diffuser
This is another simple method of diffusing essential, with the use of a thin, porous reeds which are full of microscopic channels that carry the oil to the top of the reed where it is passively released into the air. Reed diffusers do not use electricity or flames and can be used in any room setting to deliver subtle fragrance around the clock.
Room Mists & Sprays
A straightforward way to diffuse essential oils into the air is by the mixing of oil and water to deliver the essence directly when needed. Luxury room sprays have been carefully balanced to have the right oil to water ratio to permeate fragrance effectively, although the aroma does not linger as long as other methods.
Terracotta Diffuser
Due to the porous nature of unglazed terracotta it absorbs and releases scented oils very well. Drops of essential oils are added to terracotta diffuses and then evaporate to discharge aroma within the ensuing minutes. Terracotta pendants and discs are often used as jewelry to hold and disperse oils.
Ultrasonic Aroma Diffuser
This is our preferred type of diffuser; they atomize water and essential oil using sonic waves instead of heating or burning, which may destroy the essential oils’ original organic structure. Ultrasonic diffusers diffuse as tendrils of mist, adding to its aesthetic appeal. Review our Luxury Ceramic Ultrasonic Diffuser here.
Electric Diffuser
These use heat generated by electricity to warm the oil and disperse it into the air. Some may also incorporate fans to better release the oil’s unique fragrance. There are many electric diffusers on the market and they come in many shapes and sizes, including larger tabletop models and smaller ones that plug directly into wall outlets or USB ports.
Diffused oil can have several relaxation and health-related benefits, including safe scent-dispersion, mosquito and mold defence, stress relief, promoting feelings of calm to encouraging better, more restful sleep. Choosing the right type of aroma diffuser and using it properly will ensure that you have the aromatherapy experience you deserve.

Being a new mom can be extremely tough especially when dealing with colicky, restless and fussy babies who leave you feeling exhausted and sleep-deprived. New moms are constantly flipping through magazines and reading hundreds of blogs trying to find new ways of improving the wellbeing of their babies with sleep and tummy discomforts being on top of the list. Essential oils and the use of aromatherapy have been used and trusted for thousands of years and one could easily make the assumption that they are all safe and can be used on infants and babies in the same way that adults use them. However, babies have a little more sensitive skin and using the wrong essential oils in the wrong methods and quantities can cause unwanted and unpleasant skin irritations for babies.
Aromatherapy is good for babies because it helps to calm anxiety, encourages sleep and can soothe symptoms of colic. When used incorrectly, essential oils can be harmful to babies younger than 3 months and in this article we will explore safe methods of using essential oils for newborn babies and infants and also recommend a few essential oils for babies.
Some essential oils are considered hot oils while others are considered ‘neat’ oils. Neat oils are those that can be applied undiluted to the skin while hot oils are those that need to be diluted or else they can burn the skin. Whenever you are using essential oils on babies you may want to use them aromatically (in this instance they don’t have to be neat oils) or topically (in this instance they would have to be neat oils and be further diluted to avoid causing harm to the baby’s skin). Examples of essential oils that can be applied to the skin undiluted include tea tree oil, lavender, helichrysum, rose, sandalwood, Eucalyptus and chamomile oils amongst others.
Although neat oils are safe to use undiluted on adult skin, they will definitely need to be diluted when using them on your baby’s skin. Rose, Frankincense and lavender oils are highly recommended for babies because they are all neat oils and great for delicate skin but remember to dilute them for the baby!
There are some essential oils that are a definite no-no for your baby’s skin: these include, cloves, cinnamon, oregano, thyme and cassia.
The best way to apply essential oils on your baby’s skin is by using roller bottles because they make for easy application avoiding any messy spillages. This is also the most convenient way to mix and store your diluted neat oils. If you are making new essential oils roller bottles for a newborn baby it is suggested that in a 10ml roller bottle, you add about 1-3 drops of an essential oil of your choice and top it off with a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut. Coconut is especially good for baby skin because it is delicate and the fractionated oil remains in liquid form and does not solidify.
Lavender essential oil is known and loved for its calming and soothing effects. You can prepare an effective blend of lavender and frankincense oils to relax a fussy baby and promote a better night’s sleep. In a 10ml roller bottle, add 1 drop of frankincense essential oil, 1 drop of lavender essential oil and top off the blended oils with fractionated coconut oil. To help calm and relax your baby, you can apply the oil on the bottom of their feet or at the back of their neck.
For a colicky baby or baby that is experiencing any kind of tummy discomfort, a blend of ginger and fennel essential oils will do the trick. Add 1 drop each of your ginger and fennel essential oils to your roller bottle and top it off with fractionated coconut oil. For this blend, you will want to apply it directly to your baby’s tummy whenever they are experiencing any kind of discomfort in their tummy area or are gassy or constipated.

Preparing food and experiencing all the pleasant aromas that come with it can be not-so-pleasant the morning after. Be it the lingering smell of fish, fried chicken or even burnt food, the last thing one would want is for guests to walk in and experience that unpleasant smell left behind by last night’s dinner. These lingering food aromas may also find their home on various items around the kitchen and even the lounge (in the case of open plan spaces). For example, dish cloths, curtains and couches tend to absorb food aromas and odours causing them to linger much longer than they should. So how do you get rid of those cooking smells?
While opening the windows to let some fresh air in might mitigate this, luxury room sprays are not only effective but they are an excellent way to revitalise the aroma in your kitchen and leave it smelling much fresher for longer. Unlike regular air-fresheners, luxury room sprays quickly absorb unwanted odours without overdoing it.
Perhaps one of the most daunting tasks about using room sprays in the kitchen is deciding on the right fragrance. The last thing you want is to have your kitchen exuding scents reminiscent of your bedroom or your bathroom so it is very important to choose the right fragrance. Whereas in the bedroom, for instance, you would want to create an ambience that is calming, soothing and relaxing, your kitchen needs to give off that crisp “just-opened-the-window” fresh atmosphere. For your kitchen area, you might want to avoid fragrances that are musky and spicy – these are more suited for warmer and more layered spaces and textures.
Room sprays with citrus and floral notes are an absolute pleasure to experience in the kitchen giving you and your guests that outdoors feeling of inhaling the freshest air in a garden or enjoying the sea breeze. A pleasant and fresh-smelling kitchen not only radiates cleanliness but inspires it: when your kitchen smells good, you want to keep it clean. For guests, a kitchen that smells fresh speaks volumes about not only the levels of cleanliness but it is also welcoming and brings a sense of comfort.
When using room sprays in the kitchen area it is also important to remember that all the steam from the cooking travels to the corners of the ceiling; so those areas would need to be directly sprayed to effectively eliminate odours. What is also key is ensuring that your windows and doors are open to allow the air to facilitate the circulation of the fragrance around your kitchen.
To guide you in choosing the best fragrances for your kitchen, we have selected a few luxury room sprays from our range which will undoubtedly leave your kitchen feeling and smelling super fresh!
Beach Room Spray. Our Beach Room Spray is the perfect scent if you want that fresh, ocean breeze feeling in your kitchen. The top secent notes are Lime, rosemary herbal notes, fresh green, orange, lemon, grapefruit, peach and pineapple. Yum!
While White Lily-scented fragrances work perfectly in bedrooms, the crispness and freshness of this fragrance makes it an absolute winner for your kitchen as well. The top scent notes in this fragrance are water lily, apple, lemon and green leafy grass.
As the name suggests, this fragrance oozes nature and secenic landscapes. Your kitchen will take your guests on a journey of unparalleled vibrance, tranquility and purity. The top scent notes in this fragrance are Green, ozonic and orange. Absolutely fresh!
A clean, fresh-smelling kitchen needn’t be a chore! If you aren’t a fan of scented candles or diffusers, luxury room sprays get the job done and excellently so.

If you’re new here, great! Welcome, we will be exploring the nature of smell, how that stimulates our mood and how we can use this to set the tone of any space within our homes through the use of home fragrance products. For those that are stimulated by scents, here we learn how to unearth this superpower and use it to inspire sensation, nostalgia and revitalization in any and every setting.
Let’s talk about why scents affect us? We’ll need to check the science behind smell – here goes; it is recorded in studies that 70% of all emotion is generated due to smell, with it being the strongest of our five senses. Scent affects our mood, memory, concentration and emotion. Research shows that there is a 40% increase in mood when we’re exposed to pleasant aromas. Now that we’re armed with the knowledge that fragrance can greatly impact how we perceive our environment, let’s turn our attention to how we can use this to empower our personal space.
When deciding what mood you would like to create in a specific area in your home, you would want to take into consideration what the room is used for. We would also recommend you think on what level of fragrance intervention each room setting requires.
Determining what emotion you would like the room to stimulate is intrinsic to interior design, how you convey a room’s perceived purpose is thought of in this design process. In this same way we recommend picking a selection of available scents that will be added to the room to insight and highlight the room’s qualities.
If you would like to instil a sense of calmness for example, opting for blue and natural hues will cause this visual association, in so, choosing lavender, vanilla and other subdued florals will impart the same values.
Ambient room fragrancing can be done using slow-release mechanisms offered by scented candles, essential oil diffusers and timed release organic air fresheners. These maintain a saturated subtle room aroma that naturally become part of the greater room’s experience.
It is important to note that not all fragrances are subtle enough to remain constant within a room. This should be accounted for if your room will be constantly fragranced, like in the case of spas (massage rooms) think on who will be using the space.
Some interesting studies have been conducted in relation to smell, location and aptitude to react in certain ways. Scent can add character to a themed environment, help one “escape” to another place, or promote a particular feeling. For example, a well-known night club in London doubled their sales of a particular Malibu drink by introducing a coconut scent into the atmosphere.
Opting for pre-selected scent sets that have been curated to create a specific mood would help when matching your home fragrance product to your room décor, colour and theme. For instance; if your room design is based on a destination, go for options that complement that destination.

If you’re new to the world of handcrafted candle making, or if you’re just looking for a little more insight into the world of candle care. We’re here for you, we absolutely don’t expect you to just know everything! So we’ve put together this little info-centred blog post to help you on your candle experiencing journey. And hopefully make the transition from candle curious to candle enthusiast easier. Let’s begin!
First things first, let’s start with understanding the difference between luxury candles, luxury handcrafted candles and the everyday mass-produced ones. Sure… they may seem similar, and we know you’ve probably fallen victim to lacklustre candles of the convenience store variety. But we’re here to help you make more informed decisions for your future candle enjoying endeavours.
Going back to bare basics, we need to carefully examine the wax used and/or you will be using to either create or purchase your desired candle. Paraffin wax is the most common and cheapest of the options, it contains no additives and can easily be used to create many types of candles – it is also available in granulated form which requires no melting. Gel wax which is offered in varying densities that affect the gel candle’s viscosity and scent aptitude, making gels great for creating artistic touches that are aesthetically pleasing. These wax types are considerably less expensive than the 100% all-natural wax types.
Soy wax and/or Soy wax flakes is an example of 100% all-natural wax, it is made from hydrogenated soy-bean oil and is available in an assortment of forms. This is the preferred wax used in our candles due to its high scent retention compared to other natural waxes, although it is difficult to colour artificially. They are great for creating jarred or container candles, and you can read more about the benefits of Soy Candles here.
We also have Palm Wax, another 100% all-natural wax variant made from hydrogenated palm oil and is excellent for use in texture creation of votives, pillars and tarts due to its unique crystallization properties.
Beeswax falls in this category as well and is a high-quality wax that can be used to make any candle type. These are the natural-based products used to create non-toxic candles.
Ah yes, here we are, the whole reason for buying or creating a candle in the first place. The burn, the light, the gorgeous ambience. Okay what does burn quality refer to? And how are you supposed to know how to identify a candle’s burn quality before purchasing it? Simple! Burn quality is directly linked to wax quality. Just like choosing the right candle, with a 100%-natural wax, that does not emit the same indoor air pollution as their mineral counterparts, it also affects how long and how evenly the candle burns.
Soy wax candles have the longest lasting burn, allowing you to enjoy your candle and its ambient scent and glowing stillness for much longer than candles made with other wax varieties.
Last but certainly not least, considering that without the little ol’ wick we’d be left with a jar of just hardened wax? Completely sans its room revitalizing qualities! Alright, let’s give the wick the respect and attention needed to launch us to candle connoisseur status.
With natural waxes, it is important to choose wicks that have had the proper treatment. The RRD wicks and HTP wicks will work in any of the natural waxes, but the correct wick will depend on which type of natural wax and candle diameter you have.
Wicking isn’t a pure science, it’s a little magic on our part. Using a larger wick diameter for natural-based candles has proven a good rudder. For those enjoying these luxury 100% natural candles it is a question of wick maintenance. What’s that you ask? It is the careful caring for the candle’s wick to ensure that the candle burns evenly, doesn’t produce soot or emit any toxins due to mushrooming (when the wick tip becomes bulbous).
If you’d like to know more about candle maintenance, subscribe to our mailing list and get our blog updates as they happen.

For centuries, candles have been a significant part of human history and are one of the oldest methods used to lighten up a room. Scented candles are nearly as old as candles themselves.
In ancient China, they used to layer different fragrances of incense inside candles, and the change in fragrance after a particular time was deemed the beginning of a new hour.

In our day-to-day lives, we tend to go through a lot of stress, both mentally and physically. There are several ways in which you can do that which could range from recreational activities like playing games to rest activities like taking a short nap.
One way to relieve stress is through the use of essential oil diffusers. Essential oil diffusers are the latest trends in scenting your homes. They are harmless in addition to their method of application requiring little or no skill at all. They disseminate natural and essential oils like lavender to freshen up a room.
Essential oil diffusers disperse essential oils to the air. There are several benefits of essential oils to the human body. A lot of people think that essential oils are only beneficial to women, however, this is not true. There are a handful of benefits that essential oils possess for both men and women. Here are some of the best reasons to use essential oils.
Essential oils have therapeutic benefits to the human body. Scientific studies show that some essential oils are capable of interacting with the brain and the nervous system, and they can influence your mood and health. The olfactory system in the brain is stimulated and this makes relaxation happen easily. This is important for times when you spend most of your day indoors. Relaxation is one of the significant benefits of essential oils.
Essential oils boost energy and make you more alert when you wake up. Peppermint and lemon are examples of oils that do this. Breathing them in can make you focused because of the natural ability to stimulate.
For people who stay indoors almost all through the day, the air could become stale and unpleasant after a while. Essential oils have a fresh and lively aroma that smells good all the time while diffusing. Health researchers have proven that stale odour could cause mild discomfort and nausea. You want to relax at home so you definitely need to be as comfortable as possible. Essential oils will make that possible.
Essential oils can also be used in the production of household cleaners. Cleaning your home with essential oil-based cleaners improves cleaning and aids great breathing.
If you find it difficult to sleep, essential oils are your sure bet. They create an environment of luxury despite the possible messy and disorderly state of your room. You feel like you are on the first floor of an exotic hotel with a beautiful ocean or lake in view. The calmness and serenity of the environment stimulate healthy sleep.
These are the significant benefits of essential oils. Should you use them as part of your everyday life, you will lead a healthier lifestyle as we have seen above.
Additionally, essential oils can also be used for shower steaming. A little drop of essential oils in your bathtub could make you have a more relaxing shower. The oil creates a luxurious feeling in the bathroom and fills the room with a fresh and healthy aroma.
Essential oil-based soaps also make your skin feel so much better. Your hands become softer, your skin stops being dry and you stop feeling uncomfortable after having your bath.
Generally, essential oils have a lot of benefits as we have seen above. Essential oils diffusers help to dispense these oils naturally into the air. You have seen their usefulness and I recommend that you should make it part of your lifestyle.
Essential oil diffusers can also be a thoughtful gift to give your family members or loved ones. You can introduce them to your newfound lifestyle and allow them to enjoy the benefits.
